Hi, Tina!

I've been meaning to give you an update on the yard all summer. Looks like it got away from me! The yard is looking great and has gotten a lot of use this summer. It has been host to the annual July fourth BBQ. The patio is in the perfect spot now and every inch was used that day. There have also been several camp outs held in the back yard as well as football, baseball, and a rather cut-throat croquet game. The patio was even pretty pleasant on those triple digit days with the shade from the trees. It also helped to run through the sprinklers as well.
 
We purchased an outdoor fireplace which has been put to good use. Mike and I have been enjoying a glass of wine and a fire in the evenings after Jack has gone to bed. (If you haven't visited the Silver Falls Vineyards up the way from you, I would recommend it. They have excellent wine.) It has been so very relaxing. The fireplace has also been put to use making s'mores at various times this summer.
 
The garden has grown like gang busters all summer. Since we didn't have a garden last year, I guess I went a little overboard this year. We got our raised beds built. Jackson used his dump truck to personally fill all the beds with compost and then helped plant all the seeds. At first I was thinking that we didn't have enough beds built.  (8 beds now, old garden had 11)  But after watching the growth and harvest this summer and the difference that the compost and having consistent water made on the garden, I have to admit that 8 beds are probably enough. I probably don't need to plant 10 cucumber plants again next year. One or two might be enough. (Did I mention I went overboard?) We just harvested 15 acorn squash, 12 cantelope, lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, beans, peas, lettuce, carrots, apples, and pears.  We still have about 11 large pumpkins (~50" in diameter), lots of miniature pumpkins and 6 20 pound hubbard squash still growing. Whew!
 
The first thing I do everyday when I come home from work or after breakfast on my days off is walk through the yard. It is also the last thing I do at night before it gets too dark. Now we have to spend some time working on the house, but we are already coming up with ideas for our front yard. I'm sure you will be hearing from us again in the future.
 
Thank you again so much for helping us have a yard that is so relaxing, fun and productive all at the same time! I hope everyone there had a great summer and are still enjoying what they do. Jackson still talks about the "guys" all the time and gets excited whenever we happen to see a DeSantis truck.

Just a quick note to let you know how much we're already enjoying our beautiful stone patio. It seems that each day we like it more, if that's possible. December was an especially cold, wet month to work on a patio in the mud of our back yard. However, it didn't seem to deter the hard work of your crew (especially Ben & Roger). We were impressed with the quality of their work and their diligence in completing the task. Another aspect of your great service was the level of supervision provided on the patio construction as well as the irrigation system. Your quality control was excellent. …In conclusion, my job shadow experience was an utter delight. It was so fascinating to see things we have learned about and discussed in class being performed in real day-to-day life. I was especially impressed with how smoothly everyone on the staff worked together as a team, from the receptionist at the front desk to the president and owner of the company. I believe that what really makes DeSantis Landscapes stand out from other companies is its deep commitment to being employee and client oriented. The new path and terrace here in my garden look wonderful. I want to congratulate you and DeSantis for a job well done. It was so professionally handled and done in a timely fashion.
